Sustainable Mission

The need for sustainable mission work in Nigeria is enormous

Our Mission in Nigeria is to alleviate poverty

We invite you to be part of our movement to alleviate poverty. We work with Christians of all denominations to implement love focused initiatives to solving the problem of poverty in rural Nigeria. With a population of over 170 million people, the need for sustainable mission work in Nigeria is enormous.

According to a World Bank Specialist on Welfare Economics (Professor Foluso Okunmadewa), who stated that Nigeria loses an estimate $1.5 billion from its gross domestic product (GDP) each year due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
Despite Nigeria's plentiful agricultural resources and oil wealth, poverty is widespread in the country and has increased since the late 1990s. Some 70 per cent of Nigerians live on less than US$1.25 a day.

Poverty is especially severe in rural areas, where up to 80 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line, and social services and infrastructure are limited. The country's poor rural women and men depend on agriculture for food and income.

We Target Underserved Communities in South Eastern Nigeria

About 90 per cent of Nigeria's food is produced by small-scale farmers who cultivate small plots of land and depend on rainfall rather than irrigation systems. Our missionary activities in Africa were designed for the purpose of assisting farmers, workers, and families in the underserved communities to improve their living conditions through educational programs on sustainable agriculture, self-help projects, credit and health.

LFIA conducts seminars for individuals in these underserved communities dealing with techniques of organizing and managing credit unions, multipurpose co-operatives, community preventive health education, and sustainable agriculture.

Pamphlets and other materials providing information on the provident use of money, microfinance, greenhouse farming, food processing and packaging, the need for cooperative action to solve the problems of high rising cost of food, and scarcity of credit are distributed to members.

Going Beyond Subsistence Agriculture

We help farmers to create inexpensive greenhouses, allowing farmers to go beyond subsistence agriculture to sustainable agricultural system that raise crops for income. The purpose is to help individuals, small businesses and cooperatives realize the benefits of sustainable agriculture and food security.

We do this by providing information that is relevant and easily accessible along with commercial quality greenhouse products, plant seeds and food processing equipment available at a price that makes the growing of plants and processing food rewarding and financially achievable.

Love Focus International Association assists rural farmers in South Eastern Nigeria learn how to sets up greenhouses and trains rural poor people on how to grow crops and process grains that would provide proper nutrition to combat malnutrition. The World Bank feels that only by finding ways to ensure a steady supply of nutritious food for its people can Nigeria reach its full economic potential.
